Week at a Glance-April 11th-15th

WELCOME BACK!! I hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing spring break!!!

Ride the Weekly Wave:
Math-We will continue geometry as we review practice symmetry of different shapes!

Reading-We will continue the novel Shiloh and officially begin book clubs!! For those who signed up for book club snacks, you will be receiving more information about the date.

ELA/Writing-In Writer’s Workshop, we will apply what we have learned about character traits and text evidence into a short story writing piece.

Social Studies- We will continue Westward Expansion this week as we review territorial acquisition and learn about how this expansion affected Native Americans and slavery.

Science- We will continue to explore Electricity this week through hands on inquiry activities! We will also start learning about magnetism.

Anchor Down for Upcoming Tests:

·       Friday- Story Elements Vocabulary Test
·       Friday- Test on Lines, angles, and symmetry *study notes in math NB
·       Review science notes on electricity for a possible quiz this week J

Homework for the Week:
(please refer to your child's agenda daily for more details-this is only an OUTLINE of what to expect):

·       **Return graded papers by Tuesday** (Sent home Monday)
·       Make vocabulary cards for story elements vocabulary
·       Read 2 steps (30 minutes) for 100 BC and sign Reading Log *every* night
·       Math workbook homework on geometry throughout the week


AHOY…Announcements Ahead!

·       Friday, April 15th - *Note-this date changed* The girls worked so hard on Math MAP testing!! We are having a Movie Day to celebrate their hard work!
            *We are watching the movie Shiloh, which is rated PG for the behavior of one of the characters, Judd Travers. If you would not like for your daughter to participate in watching, please sign and return the newsletter by this Thursday, April 14th.
·       Thursday, April 21st at 6:30- PTA/Fine Arts Night
·       Save the date- SC READY Testing April 26th-28th *Wednesday-Writing *Thursday-Reading *Friday-Math
·       Wednesday, April 27th-4th Quarter Interim Reports sent home
