College Day

Here is our spirited and silly class representing our favorite teams on College Colors day!

One Small Square

When learning about how to make detailed observations, we picked up our shovels and pencils and headed outside to observe "One Small Square" of the backyard of our school.

What do you see? What do you feel? What do you hear? What do you smell? What do you..well we skipped the taste this time!

The book inspiration to this activity that we explored is One Small Square:Backyard by Donald Silver.

PBL Updates!

What is a PBL?

We are taking a Project Based Learning approach to learning here at OES to ensure that we become critical thinkers in real world scenarios and in our community!

Our first PBL in 4th grade is about our Carbon footprint and how to better our environment.

We made predictions and collected our snack trash to see how we could reduce it the following week!

Above you see our snack trash chart and some predictions about how much we would collect.

We brainstormed reasons why we loved the Earth and learned"we Love the Earth vocabulary words!

Gummy Bear Experiment

In order to learn the science process skills, we experimented by putting gummy bears in different types of liquids. We made observations, inferences, and predictions from our results!

We worked in groups to measure how the liquids changed the gummy bears!

We recorded the data in our Science "Wonder Journals."

Joy Boxes

What brings you JOY?

This was a question that each of the students answered in very creative ways! We created joy boxes about ourselves that we presented to the class. We also added descriptive adjectives to show off our fourth grade writing skills!
