Ride the
Weekly Wave:
Math-We will continue
our unit on fractions this week as we practice comparing decimals. We are also
looking at mean, median, and mode and units of measurement. Students need to be
studying assigned pages in their MAP study guide *every night!* We will also
have a measurements quiz this week.
Reading-We will continue exploring different genres of literature
including tall tales and fables as we discuss the main idea, author’s purpose,
and morals. We will also be reviewing and preparing for the upcoming MAP
Reading test next week, and students need to be reviewing their study guide
*every night!*
ELA/Writing-In Writer’s
Workshop, we will be looking at “on-demand” writing through different
strategies to best prepare for the upcoming ACT Inspire Writing Test. We will
also practice using verb tenses and beging writing our own tall tales!
Social Studies-We are continuing our unit on government this week as we learn about
the Bill of Rights and citizenship.
Science- 3-2-1…BLAST OFF! We are finishing our Astronomy unit as we wonder
and learn about what causes tides, shadows, and why do we use telescopes?? We
will also have a quiz on moon phases and on shadows this week.

**There is no written HW this week to give your
child plenty of time to focus on studying for upcoming tests (*especially MAP),
so make sure that she takes advantage of this time to study each night and gets
plenty of rest to do her best and ACE that test!! J
