Week at a Glance-December 7th-11th


Ride the Weekly Wave:
Math-We will be learning problem solving strategies this week and practicing our multiplication and division skills in stations and problem solving.  

Reading-We will begin our new unit on POETRY this week as we have mini-lessons on analyzing various poems throughout the week!
ELA/Writing-In Writer’s Workshop, we will have mini-lessons on sentence structure and capitalization. We will write about our favorite holiday/winter memory and finish our tall tales. We will also have our class spelling bee this week.   

Social Studies- We will test this week on the Declaration of Independence. We will also learn about six key battles of the American Revolution and incorporate our poetry unit by writing haikus about each battle!

Science- We will learn about what causes tides, constellations, and shadows through hands-on activities! 

 Anchor Down for Upcoming Tests:

·       Friday- Test on the Declaration of Independence **Study DOI notes in Social Studies notebook
·       Friday-Math 4 Today #20 Test *Study M4T #19 practice sheet 

Homework for the Week:
(please refer to your child's agenda daily for more details-this is only an OUTLINE of what to expect):

·       **Graded papers signed/returned by Tuesday!!**
·       Division HW throughout the week
·       Lunar Log signed every night
·       Read 2 steps (30 minutes) for 100 BC and sign Reading Log *every* night
·       Study every night for tests!

·       Tuesday, December 15th- PTA/4th Grade Christmas Program @ 6:30
·       Friday, December 18th-1/2 Day and Christmas Parties (9:30-10:15) Dismiss at 11:00 **Look for an information letter going home soon!
