Ride the
Weekly Wave:
Math-We will continue
practicing long division with smaller numbers and begin using larger numbers.
We will keep using traditional/standard division, but we will also learn the
“window” and “big 7” strategies.
Reading-To go along
with our PBL, we will be reading and analyzing non-fiction and fiction texts
about the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Students will also use evidence from
BOTH sides of the argument-loggers vs. environmentalists to create
info-graphics on the computers!
ELA/Writing-In Writer’s
Workshop, we are practicing how to make sentences more interesting by using
conjunctions. We will integrate these lessons with reading as we continue
writing an argument for or against logging based on War of the Woods.
Social Studies-We will continue learning about slavery, indentured servants, and
the Triangular Trade at the beginning of the week. At the end of the week, we
will be learning about the causes of the American Revolution.
Science-We will finish our Animals Unit by learning about the distinct
environments through a nonfiction article scavenger hunt and pen pal writing
activity. To go along with our
PBL, we will also be researching problems/solutions for each distinct
environment and creating pic collages.
