Week of November 17th

Ride the Weekly Wave:
Math-We will continue practicing long division with remainders. We will keep using traditional/standard division, but we will also practice the “window” and “big 7” strategies.

Reading-To go along with our PBL, we will be reading and analyzing non-fiction and fiction texts about the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Students will also use evidence from BOTH sides of the argument-loggers vs. environmentalists to create info-graphics on the computers! We will also be reading a non-fiction articles on landfills and making EDIBLE landfills on Friday-look for a letter sent home about ingredients!

ELA/Writing-In Writer’s Workshop, we are practicing how to make sentences more interesting by using commas. We will integrate these lessons with Social Studeis as we begin writing a 5 paragraph essay to King George III about being a Patriot or a Loyalist.

Social Studies-We will test on slavery, indentured servants, and the Triangular Trade on Tuesday. We will be learning more about the causes of the American Revolution. We will go to the Wonder Room later this week to explore the Boston Massacre “crime scene!”

Science-We will finish our Animals Unit by researching problems/solutions for each distinct environment and creating pic collages. We will test on Distinct Environments on Wednesday. We will start our unit on Light through inquiry using prisms and other activities.
